National Love Your Pet Day // Proverbs 12:10

It’s National Love Your Pet Day! If you do not have a pet, can you think to a time you did and how that felt? We are an animal family and love our fur babies deeply. They all have unique traits that endear each one to us individually. Animals are important because they are reflections of unconditional love. They are almost totally dependent upon their humans and love us in return. I’m reminded of pictures and poems I’ve read throughout my life that emphasize how a pet might just be part of our lives, but we are their whole lives. After recently losing our Yoshi, I cannot help but get a lump in my throat reflecting upon how different things are in her absence. It helps us all love the remaining dog and cats just a little differently knowing the time will come when they all must cross the rainbow bridge. That brings to mind Proverbs 12:10 which says, “Good people take care of their animals, but wicked people are cruel to theirs” (GNT). So, let’s follow that, and celebrate the reflections of unconditional love as well, when we observe National Love Your Pet Day.
