National Good Teen Day // 1 Timothy 4:12
The teenage years can be brutal, both for the child and everyone who does life around them. Can you relate? Those years are critical, though, because they help shape an identity and prepare us for what lies ahead in life. The tension that exists between childhood fantasies and adult responsibilities can be vexing; especially, as hormones surge. As it’s true for all things, there are good and bad decisions that are made during this crucial phase, but it is just that, a phase. I love the verse or today that says not to let anyone look down on you due to your age, because examples can still be set for others. Let the childish whimsy remind you and others that we are to come to Jesus like little children. Also, let the burgeoning responsibility of chores, work, increasing school loads, driving, etc remind us that while growing up is inevitable, maturity is not. So, how can you look back on your teenage years and see the good in even the most difficult of things? Who do you know is managing these years well? How about someone who needs a little extra TLC? And don’t forget the parents/guardians out there who need help, too!
