National Crazy Day // 2 Corinthians 5:13-14

Today’s is National Crazy Day. It’s a day set apart to have fun and acknowledge how some of the things we do might seem crazy to others.

My family tends to think I’m a little crazy. Admittedly, I frequently give them good reason. I joke that part of the job descriptions for dads it to be annoying, so I work to do it to the utmost.

Despite my poor attempt at humor, therein lies a wonderful biblical truth. God wants us to work to the fullest for Him. Many people will see that and think Jesus followers are crazy. Did you know that Jesus was accused of that Himself? The way He spoke, lived, and worked for God made people think He was out of His mind. Such is the case for virtually anyone who lives outside of him/herself for the glory of God. It’s looks and feels weird to a world that is in opposition to the will, word, and way of the Lord.

I love how the Apostle Paul addressed this in 2 Corinthians 5:13-14, “If I acted crazy, I did it for God; if I acted overly serious, I did it for you. Christ’s love has moved me to such extremes. His love has the first and last word in everything we do” (MSG). Paul called out directly how living for the Lord seems crazy to some, while acting seriously might seem crazy to others. The point Paul made was that no matter how some perceived his actions, everything he did was to make Jesus known. He dedicated his life to pointing people to God and the world is a better place for it.

I hope you will do something today to point someone to the Lord. You might come across as crazy, but when you think that Christ and Paul were as well, then you can know you’re in good company. Let’s get a little crazy for God today and see how His love has the first and last word in everything
