National Caroling Day // Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16 (NIV) | Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Happy National Caroling Day! A Christmas carol is a song that celebrates the birth of Jesus. We know from John 1 that Jesus is God in the flesh who came to open our eyes to God’s and lead us to His glorious presence in this life through the forgiveness of sin without having to wait until heaven. This is why we celebrate Christmas and the reason to sing with gratitude in our hearts. Personally, I love Christmas music, but there’s nothing like the carols and hymns that stoke my soul this time of year. Sure, I can have fun singing about red-nosed reindeer, dancing snowmen, jingle bells, and donkeys named Dominic. Those silly songs pale in comparison to praying to the long-expected Jesus who came on that silent night with a birth announcement sung by the Herald Angels and accompanied by a star of wonder that led travelers from afar to the place where God broke into our history and made His home with us. So, what songs are filling your heart this time of year? What will you sing on this National Caroling Day as a way to give thanks to God and share the GOOD NEWS that all the faithful should come joyfully and triumphantly this time of year to adore the King of Angels, Christ the Lord!
