National All Is Ours Day // 1 Chronicles 29:11

Today is National All Is Ours Day. It was designed to be a day where we think about environmental stewardship. It seems to me that people of faith should be the most conscious of conservation precisely because we recognize that all is God’s as opposed to ours. Genesis 1:28 reveals that God gave creation to humanity to take dominion for us to live in and enjoy. The worst thing we could do with creation is to abuse it, and by virtue, desecrate the resources and responsibility God gave us. As we see in our verse for today, everything belongs to God — and though He gave humanity dominion over it — God Himself remains the head. So, on this National All is Ours Day, may we not forget creation really is God’s, and we are called to care for it as we share it with the Lord and others.
