The Gate to God // Matthew 7:13-14
Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT) | “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
When was the last time you fell for the tempting phrase, “if it feels right do it”? That, my friends, might as well be how to describe the broad road that leads to hell. We all have different things that tempt us and can lead us astray. The last think Jesus wants us to do is to follow what feels right, because our emotions are fertile ground where the devil plants seeds of doubt and debauchery. Jesus is about righteousness, which has a standard that isn’t as different as the next fleeting craving…that standard is Him! So, what are we to do if we have a legacy of following our feelings as opposed to God’s standard of righteousness? Go to Jesus. Confess those things, ask and find His forgiveness, and then go His way. Then, you’ll come to realize the narrow gate isn’t some arbitrary thing at all, but a relationship with the Lord Himself! After all, Jesus described Himself as the very gate in John 10:9, “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures” (NLT).
