Love Reborn // 1 John 4:7

1 John 4:7 (NIV) | Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Today’s verse draws a direct connection between love and salvation. John points out that love comes from God first. When we experience that love, we are enabled and empowered to love others with the love of God. This is key because of how we tend to view love without Christ in our lives. We look at love conditionally always seeking what we can get out of a relationship. That is not God’s way, though, which is why we must realize our rebirth in Spirit is required to love like God loves. So, will you do a love assessment today? Will you make sure you embrace the love God has for you and asks you to share with others? God’s love is overwhelming and His desire is to deploy Jesus followers to overwhelm all the darkness in the world. Will you allow your life to be used accordingly? I pray so.
