Love! // 1 John 1:6
Check out today’s verse. We read that love means doing what God commanded us to do, which is to love. This is in direct relation to what Jesus said as recorded in John 13:34-35, “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.” This is a great follow-up to yesterday’s message about shining Jesus light in our world. We do this not because we are luminous beings, but because we are called to love as we have been loved. Jesus is the Light of the World present at creation. Jesus is the Light that shows us we are all invited to be God’s children. Jesus confirmed that He is the Light of the World, then said we are to shine that light for all to see. This is because we have been loved from the very beginning and that love will endure forever. So, let us experience that love so we can express that love to God and others. Let’s do it!
