Living Hope // 1 Peter 1:3
Yesterday we explored how we are put our hope in God’s Word — both the written Word, as in the Bible, and the Living Word, as in Jesus. Today, we look at an awesome verse from the Book of 1 Peter that reveals to us how our hope lives on. This comes directly on the heels of referencing Jesus’ death which gives us the ability to embrace a new life. That hope is made possible by the resurrecting power God makes available to every person at the moment he or she believes in Jesus as God’s one and only Son, risen from the dead. God floods the believer with holy power that raises us from our old, worn-out, burned-out way of living into a new living hope. Again, this is beyond a mere optimism that everything will work out; this is holding fast to God’s promise that all things will work together for good for those who love Him. I don’t know about you, but I need that hope in my life whenever things don’t go the way I would prescribe or prefer. That’s the living hope that helps you keep going when everything else in the world seems to say quit. It’s the living hope that says hold on when the world says let go. Let that living hope help you face the future unafraid because of who God is and the fact He cannot and will not break His promises.
