Listen // Romans 10:17

Did you know that studies indicate most people hear upwards of 30,000 words a day? It’s estimated that we spend about 55% of our day listening, but if just 2% of that time is negative, it can make us negative.

Today’s verse teaches us that faith comes from hearing the word of God. Are you making sure to fill your world with sounds of faith, hope, and love? Worship music, sermons, Bible teaching, and faithful conversation can give you a Christian cacophony to build your life.

The thing is, and I mention this from experience, we can get “addicted” to outrage. The media is potently aware, so they foment anger to keep us coming back for more. We must be intentional about the things we listen to ensure our focus is on what is noble and true.

I pray that this Lord’s Day presents you with a marvelous opportunity to listen to the word of Christ. Open your ears, brain, and heart to build your faith. Listen, for as Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey” (Luke 11:28).
