Let’s Participate! // 2 Chronicles 7:14

Today’s verse is mentioned a lot these days. The context was the dedication of the temple, celebration of God’s presence, and power of provision. It came with a warning about what would happen if people turned from God’s way to do what was right in their own eyes. Consider Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” This is our dilemma, but God made a deal as we read in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Folks, we need to call on the name of the Lord, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. We need to seek God’s face, which speaks to looking for a relationship with the Lord as opposed to the goodies He can provide. We need to turn away from our propensity to want to go our own way as opposed to God’s. Then, God will hear, lay His healing hand on us all, and keep it there as the balancing protection we all need. So, have you done your part to help this process of restoration? Will you humble yourself and recognize what is right in your eyes usually isn’t right in the Lord’s? Will you pray to God to seek the hope and help that only comes from a right relationship with Him? God longs to forgive, redeem, and restore. Let’s all acknowledge our participation in the problems of the world so we may also participate in the glory longs to bring!
