Let’s Do Something Great Today

Today’s verse comes from the Great Commission which Jesus gave just prior to His ascension (Matthew 28:19-20). His goal for the disciples was to go out into the world and share what they learned from Him. The Great Commission is inextricably linked with what we know as the Great Commandment: to love others as Jesus loves us (John 13:34). These are linked because love for God and neighbor must propel us to share the message of salvation with everyone. Jesus’ instruction to go into all the world can be challenging, because it calls us out of our comfort zones. When we are obedient to that call, we also come face-to-face with Jesus’ teaching in the parable of the Good Samaritan that our neighbor is anyone to whom we can show kindness. So go out into the world to do something great: love God and neighbor, showing kindness to everyone you encounter.
