Knowledge in Action // James 3:13

I like to think of wisdom as the appropriate application of knowledge. It isn’t just about knowing things, but how to put them into practice. Someone once helped me think about that in terms of eternity, too, since wisdom isn’t just temporal, it’s timeless. So, when we read our verse for the day, we see that James encouraged his readers to put the things they knew — such as God’s love and desire to save us thanks to Jesus — into action. The same is true for us today. We aren’t just to do good works for the sake of the actions, but to point people to Jesus. Can you take that knowledge and apply it to your life today? What good works can you do to point someone to Jesus? What will you share with them as your eternal perspective? In other words, what will you tell them is your reason for doing the things you do?
