Keep Thirsting // Psalm 42:1
I vividly remember a time I was seeking God’s will for my family and life. I went for a walk in the woods to get away and pray when I found myself reflecting on the words of today’s verse. I kid you not, several deer ran right in front of me while I was praying this verse! It seemed like one of those signs given by God telling me to keep longing for Him and He would keep revealing Himself to me. The Psalm goes on to ask prayerfully why one’s soul would seem so downcast in times after God showed up and out. I wonder the same at times. Have you? I think this is one reason the Scriptures teach us to thirst for God, since thirst is a natural indicator that we need to refresh our parched existence. So, are you in need of drawing from the depth of God’s living water? You might just need to get away from the hustle and bustle to nestle in the heart of the Lord. Keep thirsting and panting for the Lord’s righteousness, for as Jesus said, you will be filled (Matthew 5:6).
