Just Imagine // Ephesians 3:20
I think of Han Solo when I read today’s verse, particularly in “Star Wars: A New Hope” when Luke Skywalker was trying to convince him to continue with the rescue of Princess Leia while cornered by stormtroopers on the Death Star. Solo replied something to the effect, “I can imagine quite a bit” when Skywalker tried to tempt him with the reward that would be waiting for finishing the mission. I can imagine quite a bit, too; especially when it comes to effectively completing the mission God has for me. I am sure you can imagine quite a bit as well. When we read Ephesians 3:20, we are challenged with the idea that God can do even more than what we can imagine. Both the Old and New Testaments challenge our imaginations by stating, “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him — these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit” (Isaiah 64:4 and 2 Corinthians 2:10). May we feel so prepared for that which we cannot be prepared. It’s a mystery, but an amazing one to be sure!
