Just Do It // Colossians 3:17

“Just Do It” was the advertising slogan used by Nike beginning in 1987. It is one of the most famous and ubiquitous ads in history. It worked on so many different levels that it sticks still some 36 years later. The idea behind it is whatever you have to do, do it with all the ferocious tenacity you cam muster. The Bible teaches us to live similarly for God. The Lord wants our focus, unwavering commitment, and sacrificial determination to help Jesus on His rescue mission for humanity. We see in today’s verse that whatever we do, whether it’s in the things we say or do, we are to do it all for Jesus. Living in such a way is actually an act of worship. You don’t have to wait for another Sunday morning to magnify God’s presence in the world. Consider what Paul also wrote in Romans 12:1, “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him” (MSG). Yep, that’s right. Everything you say and do, when done for Jesus, is an act of worship. So whatever you have ahead of you today, just do it, but make sure you do it for the Lord!
