The Gospel for the World // John 3:16

John 3:16 (NIV) | For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Today’s verse is known as the Gospel in a nutshell. We read that God gave Jesus out of His great love to die for our sins and fulfill God’s wrath. Our belief is what activates this power for living now and into eternity. God gave us this gift without any strings attached. But like any good and useful gift, the Giver wants us to put it to use and enjoy the benefits. Jesus gave us some guidance as to what to do with this amazing gift when He said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). In other words, Jesus asked us to share the fact that He came for us, died to save us, and deploys us to help others learn of God’s love. So, will you receive God’s love and embrace His desire for you in the world?
