Jesus’ Strength // Philippians 4:13
Today’s verse is the first one I memorized when I was a teen. Honestly, I learned it because it was the favorite verse of a girl in class I thought was pretty cute. I adopted it as my own and remember writing it on a trigonometry test paper. My math teacher (with whom I had a great relationship) wrote underneath, “I hope you asked Jesus to help you study.” It was a cute exchange but spoke to a deeper truth. Yes, Jesus wants to infuse you with His strength, but He needs you to have some skin in the game, too. When you commit your life to Him, He will do more than just help you. For me, I passed that class, though I can’t remember the grade I earned on the exam. The lesson has carried with me all these years, though. With Jesus, “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” Tests included.
