Jesus is the Way // 1 Corinthians 10:13

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV) | No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

There is a very common misconception that accompanies today’s verse. People think it says that God does not put more on you than you can handle. Have you ever thought that way? The truth, so much of life is beyond what we can handle. From troubles to temptations, we face things practically every day that cause us to feel overwhelmed. The wisdom in this verse is twofold: (1) God does not do these things to us…God cannot visit evil upon people; and (2) when we feel we are in over our heads, God sends us Jesus — our holy life preserver — to show us the way out. So, if you’re feeling tempted or troubled, turn to Jesus. Pray. Ask Him for help and follow Him out of the pit, whether it’s literal or figurative. Jessus is the Way, exactly as He said as recorded in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.”
