Jelly Bean Salvation // Psalm 34:8
Did you know that today is National Jelly Bean Day? I LOVE me some jelly beans. And yes, even the black ones (don’t @ me). I have seen jelly beans used to help teach the message of salvation. I want to share this with you today in case you have an opportunity to indulge in some of these sweeet treats so you might be able to use them to help point someone to Jesus
- The yellow jelly bean reminds us of heaven. Psalm 115:3, “Our God is in the heavens,
and he does as he wishes.” - The black jelly bean reminds us of sin. Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- The red jelly bean represents the blood of Jesus: 1 John 1:7, “…the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”
- The white jelly bean shows us that Jesus’ blood purifies us from sin. Psalm 51:7, “Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”
- The green jelly bean helps us know that our salvation makes us new. 2 Corinthians 5:17, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
- The blue jelly bean points to baptism. Mark 16:16, “Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.”
I hope this is a fun way for you to think about God. He made you with a purpose for your life. Sin gets in the way and damages that relationship. The blood of Jesus is what enables us to be saved and washed free of our sin. We are made brand new when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. The water of baptism is the outward sign of the change going on inside our heart, mind, soul, and body. So, as we snack on a jelly bean or two on this National Jelly Bean Day, remember above all to taste and see that the Lord is good!
