International Day of Human Fraternity // Galatians 3:28
Today is the International Day of Human Fraternity. The gist is for us to realize we all have more in common than the things that separate us. This is especially true for the Christian for as Saint Paul wrote, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). Paul’s point wasn’t to diminish the things that make us unique, but to declare they do not assign our worth. Yes, this is counter-cultural in much of today’s experimentation with intersectionality but emphasizes how Jesus is the vertex of the human experience. On this International Day of Human Fraternity, don’t look at people as competitors, but with compassion. Let’s focus on faith over fear, and unity over uniformity. What you will find is when we honor the image of God in every person, we participate in God’s work of reconciliation and peace.
