Imprint // Hebrews 1:3

I was walking my Yoshi dog the other day and saw the imprint of this leaf on our sidewalk. It really struck me, so I took out my phone and snapped a picture. A leaf fell off a nearby maple tree and the color bled onto the drab concrete, leaving this awesome image proving the leaf was there long after it was carried off by the wind.

The Book of Hebrews tells us that Jesus is the imprint of God’s being in our lives. The presence and power of Jesus leaves a mark on us so we end up carrying the image of God along with us. I love that idea! Like light working to develop a picture, the Holy Spirit works to develop the image of God’s being in us. That way, as we live, move, and find our being in God through Jesus, we fulfill our call to make an imprint of love in the world around us. And since the Bible refers to the Holy Spirit as wind, we can know that as Spirit blows us into our next location/assignment, an imprint of God being there remains.

Where do you see imprints of God’s presence in the world around you? How might you aim to leave a Jesus imprint wherever you go to make it evident that Christ was there? Do that and see what the Lord does with and through it!
