Hold Fast // Romans 12:9
I took the picture in the scripture graphic below just a couple days before Christmas. It was the last leaf on a tree in our front yard. I couldn’t help but think when I saw it about the times I needed to hold on when I felt like letting go. And so it is with faith. Romans 12:9 tells us to hold fast to what is good. We might feel like giving up or in when we encounter the winters of life…the days that are cold, grey, and filled more with darkness than light. Holding fast to what is good calls us to grab Jesus because He is holding us. Jesus said these words as recorded in John 10:28, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” This is an amazing gift of the Lord, enabling and empowering us to hold on when we otherwise feel like letting go. Don’t. Hold fast, for in Christ, help is always in hand…His…and the payoff is eternal life!
