Help in Temptation // 1 Corinthians 10:13

Today’s verse is one that can easily be misquoted and misunderstood. Maybe you’ve heard someone say God won’t put on you anymore than you can handle. Friends, that isn’t quite right. We read that God will not allow us to be tempted more than we can stand. Now, it’s important to know that God does not tempt people. Check out what James 1:13-14 teaches, “When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed” (NIV). In other words, we slip into our own temptation. When we are tempted, what 1 Corinthians 10:13 goes on to say, “when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (NIV). And what is that way out? It’s more like a whom…JESUS! The Spirit of Christ shows up to empower us to withstand the temptation. That is how faithful God is! He shows up to help, all we must do is ask, believe, and receive it. So, will you?
