Happy Resurrection Day // Matthew 28:6
Happy Easter, my friend! Today is the reason we have the faith that we do in Jesus as God’s one and only Son. Jesus came, born of a virgin; He lived a sinless life yet died a sinner’s death; and today is when we celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection from the grave. Let’s look at today’s verse in its broader context…
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
Matthew 28:5-5, NIV
The angel told the women who went to care for Jesus’ corpse that “He has risen from the dead” and finished by saying, “Now I have told you.” In between, we see the angel say that Jesus was on the move. That resonates with me this Easter morning — Jesus on the move. His resurrection inspired the women to move as they went to tell the disciples. Then, we see that some of the disciples moved to Jesus’ empty tomb. That Good News has been moving people ever since…moving people away from a sinful lifestyle and closer to God. Then, moving them out into the world to help others know that God is real, He loves us, and has a purpose for living. That purpose is to bring the message of hope and salvation to a lost and weary world so we may move away from our old worn-out, burned-out way of life and closer to the heart of God.
Will you make a move this Resurrection Morning? Jesus is on the move, continuing His rescue mission for humanity. He invites us to join Him and share in the moving results. Will you make a move for Him today? I pray so!
