God’s Perfect Power // 2 Corinthians 12:9
2 Corinthians 12:9 is one of my life verses, “‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” The Apostle Paul pleaded with God to remove the “thorn in his flesh.” We don’t exactly know what that thorn was, but what I do know is we all have one. The message God gave in response was to focus on Him as opposed to the hurt. That sure does require discipline, doesn’t it? Paul got the message loud and clear, because one of the recurring themes in his writing deals with giving thanks to God amidst our struggles, because they bring us closer to Him. Then, when we ask God to cover our weaknesses, His power comes in and perfects a problem we could never overcome on our own. So, if you find yourself struggling with a thorn of whatever form, focus on the healer and not the hurt. Trust God with your troubles and let His power perfect your weakness.
