God is Love // 1 John 4:16

1 John 4:16 (ESV) | So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

God = Love. Love is God’s nature…God’s character. We see the word, “abide,” in verse from 1 John, which means to acknowledge and obey. This is important to to consider, because if we’re honest, knowing and doing is not always consistent. 1 Corinthians 13 gives us some beautiful insight as to what love in God’s nature and character is like. We see from the graphic below that loving like God means patience, kindness, graciousness, and humility. Does this describe the way that you express love? What about love within your expectations? If not, what might you need to do? How can you seek God’s help in understanding love so you might live into godly love for the Lord, others, and yes, even yourself?
