God is For You // Romans 8:31

Today’s verse reads in total, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” It is designed to be a rhetorical question. Romans 8 is full of inspiring words that reveal God’s heart and plan for all those who trust Jesus. Yes, following Christ can leave us vulnerable to all kinds of attacks from God’s enemy. We tend to be prone to rejection and feeling ostracized by others. It’s part of a defense mechanism and survival instinct that helped us develop as a species. The enemy uses those needs to be part of a tribe against us in order to pry us away from God. Don’t let him. Don’t believe the lies. Don’t trust the deceptions. If you feel so tempted, answer the rhetorical question with the only answer it begs: if God is for us, who can be against us? NO ONE. At all. As Paul wrote just a few verses later, we are more than conquerors thanks to the love of God for you and me in Christ Jesus. So, if you are hearing the enemy whispering those stinking, sulfuric nothings in your ear trying to convince you no one is for you, remember this undeniable truth: If God is for us, who can be against us? Who, indeed!? Amen.
