Global Harmony Day // Philippians 4:9

Harmony Day originated in Australia in 1999, but its roots are centuries old. The idea is to seek ways to be a conscientious citizen and live into the Golden Rule. We see this referenced in Philippians 4 when the Apostle Paul encouraged people to put into practice what they learned from him about God. As they do — recognizing their own individualities in relationship with others — they will find that “God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” When you think about harmony from a musical perspective, people play or sing different notes at the same time to make beautiful music. This can be done in major or minor ways. Sure, there can be some dissonance, intentional or otherwise, but there is something satisfying in the resolution. So, on this Harmony Day, feel free to play your tune, but do so in harmony with God who will work you into His most excellent harmonies, both with Himself and others.
