Get Rid of the Junk // Hebrews 12:27

Today is National Clean Out Your Computer Day. When was the last time you ran some applications that removed junk files, cleaned up fragmented files on your drive, and cleared out precious space? I try to do it weekly or so, and even still am amazed at how much junk accumulates on my machine hindering speed and performance. The Scriptures remind us we need to make sure we take a similar approach to life. We need to get rid of the junk that occupies our lives in ways that are often hidden, but impactful all the same. Hebrews 12:27 puts it this way, “…[get] rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered” (MSG). The crux of that verse is to rid yourself of temporary files and other kinds of junk that consumes your precious resources to bring clarity of God’s uncluttered and unshakable Kingdom. So, as you run a program or app to clean out your computer day, why not try downloading some spiritual content to permanently run your life on the Lord’s operating system?
