Get Ready to be Ready // Proverbs 15:23
I was able to meet one of our new neighbor families the other day. Our conversation initially began as our dogs got acquainted. She commented about how nicely Tiffany decorated our front porch. I gleefully asked them to come be our guest at Hope Church for worship. She indicated she already joined the Catholic Church, but he is a Methodist and looking for a new church. We talked about the church’s ministry locally and globally, as well as how we are able to hold close to the faith in difficult times. It was a sweet moment and immediately came to mind as I read our verse of the day: “Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time” (Proverbs 15:23, NLT)! From dogs, to decor, to church, we had a great conversation and it lifted my spirits. That interaction reminded me of the time when the Apostle Peter wrote, “if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it” (1 Peter 3:15, NLT). I loved being able to share about my gratitude for hope as the name of a church and as a Jesus follower. It goes to show how important it is to get ready to be ready whenever you have a conversation so you’re able to point people to Jesus. Think about where you might go today and the people with whom you might interact. Think about things that are important to you and how they can reflect a life of faith, hope, and love. Then, get ready to be ready to offer a fitting reply and share the hope you hold as a believer. You never know just how important it might be to someone in need, seeking, or hurting. So, let’s all get ready to be ready, and see where, and to whom, the Lord leads us.
