Get Dressed / Colossians 3:12
God wants you to wear your commitment to biblical virtues like your favorite article of clothing. My mom got me a Braves World Series jersey last year for my birthday. I am so proud of it. It has my name and the number 21 as a reminder of last year’s banner season. I’ve worn it a hand-full of times, and when I do, I remember the amazing feeling of seeing my favorite team bring home the trophy. As much as God wants us to enjoy the things that make life fun, the Lord wants us to remember the things that have eternal worth…things like compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. We should all wear those virtues like our favorite article of clothing; personalized and well-fitting. I guarantee they represent something eternal in nature. For as the Bible reaches, in Christ we will be receive a crown that will never lose its glory (1 Peter 5:4). So let’s get dressed for Jesus, knowing that the colors we don are for far more than an annual award. The glory we are called to remember is actually something to come without end. Dear Lord, let it be.
