From and for God First // 1 John 4:19

How is God speaking to you through our recent exploration into love and relationships? Today’s verse reminds us that love and virtue begins with God, not us. We can struggle with this, because we tend to think we bring goodness to God and the world. That mindset of Jesus we talked about yesterday helps us see that God brings goodness into the world and chooses to use us as the vessel. That is true even with all the messes we make, targets we miss, and mistakes we cause. Why? So there can be no doubt that it is God who works these miracles; otherwise, we would become inclined to think we are the source of all good as opposed to the Lord. Friend, we love because He first loved us! He taught us what love is…how to experience love…how to express love. May we remember this and live accordingly!
