Fixed on Faith // 2 Corinthians 4:18
Today’s verse is one that seems contradictory to those who don’t believe. How can we fix our eyes on that which is unseen? It comes down to faith. As Hebrews 11:1 states, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (NIV). The Message renders it like so: “The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.” So, we are called to live a life of faith, that assures us of that which we cannot see is indeed real. This gives us hope that God’s way wins in the end. Love is the propelling force that moves us from now to then. So, follow the Apostle Paul’s advice and raise your gaze to fix your eyes on the eternal. The things that you can see right around you are temporary, but the ways of the Lord are eternal!
