Eyes to the Skies // Psalm 19:1

I love the sky. Do you? I love to see the crystal-clear blue on a cloudless day. I enjoy trying to make out cloud shapes when they are hanging in the firmament. I also appreciate the cloudy days when they block the horizon. I especially appreciate the beauty of the night sky with the moon and stars piercing the darkness. As we see in today’s verse, our eyes are designed to be drawn to the skies! We are supposed to look up and consider the mystery and majesty, yet not just what we see, but we are also to consider the One who made them all. Psalm 8:3-4 is another beautiful passage that contemplates the beauty of the skies and asks what it is about humanity that God is mindful of us? What a beautiful idea, huh? The same God who spins the universe into motion is the same God who knows the number of hairs on your head. So, take some time today and tonight to look up at the sky and take in all of God’s glory. Then, prayerfully remember that God is mindful of you, too. All of it is crafted and cradled by God’s hands, including you! May we join the ongoing praises of God, proclaiming His mystery and majesty in everything.
