Dwelling // Colossians 3:16

The New Testament reveals how God desires an intimate relationship with His children. We see that God came in Jesus and made His dwelling among us Jesus (John 1:14). Jesus said as He prepared the disciples for HIs departure that He was leaving to prepare a place for them so they (we!) could be where He is (John 14:3). Then, Jesus said these words as recorded in John 14:23, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” Take note of how these statements point to our future, but what about today? This is one way to look at our verse for the day where the Apostle Paul wrote, “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts” (NIV). This means that God sends His LIVING Word to dwell within us so we can know that whatever we face, and wherever we go, we are never alone. Looking back at Jesus from John 14:18, He promised not to leave His children as orphans, but to come for us. Trust that and may that it give you the hope and peace you need when it feels like life is fall to pieces.
