Do You Believe This? // John 11:25-26
Today’s verse comes in the account of Jesus raising His friend, Lazarus, from the grave. Lazarus’ sisters, Mary and Martha, were upset that Jesus didn’t come when they sent word that their brother was near death. Jesus then made His statement about being the resurrection and the life. He follows this up with a question: do you believe this? I love that! It speaks to me about the difference in knowledge of the head and heart. We can know things in our mind but struggle to fully buy-in with our heart. I think this is the point Jesus was making with Mary and Martha. They knew who He was, but He wanted to ensure their hearts were stabilized in their faith. I think the same question is helpful for you to consider today as well. Do you believe this? Do you really believe? Will you stake your life on it? Jesus wants your head and heart in full alignment to buy-in to the hope that only He can give.
