Do Not Fear // Isaiah 43:1

The Bible has 365 different messages that tell us not to fear. Pretty cool, huh? But why? It’s because when God claims us, we cannot be counterclaimed. The rest of Isaiah 43 talks about how God is with us when the fires blaze and flood water rise; in other words, the elements we cannot control have not control over us. In the face of such circumstances, we must focus on God and not our surroundings. I can’t help but think of how Yoda from the Star Wars movies described fear: Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” Fear ultimately demands our attention to the problem when God wants it to be on the Problem Solver. So, whatever it is you face today — especially the things that can bring fear — focus on the One who is with you over the flames and the flood that try to overwhelm you.
