Detours & Destinations // Proverbs 16:9

Woody Allen is often credited as saying, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.” This essentially echoes the sentiment in today’s verse where we see that we plan our course, but God established our steps. This doesn’t invalidate free will at all, because God allows us to make our way but wants to be our destination! Sometimes life doesn’t go as we expected, yet even the detours are part of His design to shape our hearts and deepen our trust in Him. Instead of clinging to control, we’re invited to walk in faith, confident that the God who directs our steps will always lead us exactly where we need to be.
