Delighting in Love // Micah 7:18

Are you holding a grudge against someone? Is someone holding a grudge against you? Feels icky, doesn’t it? Take a look at today’s verse. This is the prophet, Micah, who espouses a powerful truth about the character of God. It acknowledges how God does get angry when His people hurt others, disobey the Lord, and break His heart. It’s great news the verse doesn’t end there, because the next part is beautiful — God delights to show mercy! This is the love of God, the character of God, and God’s very nature! The thing about love is it makes us vulnerable. We can get hurt, and hurt deeply, when mistreated. But the essence of love lived out in mercy is it seeks to forgive, reconcile, and restore the relationship. If you are angry with someone, or know someone is angry with you, take a page out of God’s book and delight in His love. That’s the love He feels for you and wants you to share with others. May it be so!
