Delight, Not Despair // 2 Corinthians 12:10
2 Corinthians 12:10 (NIV) | That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Does today’s verse scramble your brains? How can weakness be strength? It comes when we acknowledge our limitations in light of God’s limitless power. The more we confess our problems, the more we can become aware of God’s love covering us. Someone once said that God allows our weaknesses so we can see where we end and He begins. If we didn’t have any weaknesses, we (A) wouldn’t have need for complementing strength, and (B) we’d be inclined to think we are the source of all that’s good in the world. So, delight in your struggles as opposed to feeling despair, because that is where our shortcomings intersect with Jesus’ strength.
