Delight in the Lord // Psalm 37:4
Today’s verse is one we can easily misunderstand. We want it to mean that God will give us whatever we want. That isn’t quite right. What we see is when we make God the delight of our heart, He gives us the delight of our heart. In other words, the gift we receive is the gift of God! This is meant to change what we long for so we are propelled out into the world to live for the Lord. Does this mean everything will always be sunshine and rainbows? Hardly. But, in Jesus’ presence, light shines perpetually and we are able to live into God’s promises on the good days and bad. So, as you get ready to be propelled into today, check your heart to make sure you have room for the Lord. Let God shape your heart’s desires so you live for Him. And even if you encounter some troubles along the way, hold fast to the light everlasting that IS Jesus Christ and lean into the promise that He is with you to the very end of this age.
