Dance! // Psalm 149:3

It’s International Dance Day! Do you have a favorite dance move? I actually created a dance move as a silly joke a number of years ago. I call it, “The Dad”, and it’s probably as impressive as it sounds. It doesn’t quite measure up to my Jesus Jig, but I’ll break it out on special occasions; especially if I might be able to embarrass the family out in public, but I digress. Dancing is a full body, physical expression of emotion. This is one reason I think the Bible actually tells us to dance as an act of worship to God in Psalm 149:3: “Praise his name with dancing…” Like just about anything, dancing can be used for ill and dishonor God, but that’s a devotion for another time. Today, though, we are encouraged to dance and praise God as we do. So, on this International Dance Day, I will find some time to break out “The Dad” and praise God as I do. After all, our Heavenly Father deserves a dance as a full body, physical expression of our love and praise.
