Convinced Not Condemned // John 5:24

Today’s verse is one worth holding onto. Have you guilt over sin in your life? I know I do. I feel regret for things I’ve done (or haven’t done), said (or haven’t said when it was important to speak up), or places I’ve been (or didn’t go when I was needed). Does this guilt prove our undoing? NO! What it does it remind us that we are mere human and are in need of help. That help comes in the person, Jesus Christ, spurred on by the Holy Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit convinces us of our sin. The hope comes from Jesus that we are not condemned for our sin, and that’s good news! Yes, we are convicted in the heart, but that conviction is thrown out in the court of God’s law of merciful love. When you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, and receive His offer of salvation through the forgiveness of sin, then you…as Jesus said…already passed from death to life.

So, as you begin today, do so with this assurance that you are forgiven, and that forgiveness is your salvation. Yes, the Spirit will continue to convince you of your sin, but thanks to Jesus, you are not condemned. Thanks be to God! Amen? Amen.
