Consolation // Psalm 94:19
I’ve recently gone through a period of some pretty intense anxiety. Today’s verse is one I turned to, and I’m glad I did. Admittedly, I wrestled a bit with the idea of consolation. It reminds me of getting a participant trophy, or consolation prize, for something I worked really hard to achieve. The award wasn’t an award at all; if anything, I felt like it mocked my failure. I have some good news for you, though; when you see the word, consolation, in Scripture, it isn’t about trying to make you feel better about your misses and messes. God’s consolation is all about proving to you that He is with you in your low moments…those times when you fear He’d be farthest away. That, my fiends, is no participation trophy, but an eternal award that tells you to never quit, even when times are tough. If you are going through a time of anxiety right now, know that God is with you. May His presence bring you peace and shift the greatness from the anxiety within to the joy that overwhelms.
