Christ or Chaos? // Psalm 18:16-19

“But me he caught—reached all the way from sky to sea; he pulled me out of that ocean of hate, that enemy chaos, the void in which I was drowning. They hit me when I was down, but God stuck by me. He stood me up on a wide-open field; I stood there saved—surprised to be loved! (Psalm 18:16-19, MSG)

I heard something the other day that stopped me in my tracks: “You either choose Christ or chaos.” The sentiment in today’s verse is found in a couple places in the Old Testament in particular. Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise to deliver us from oceans of hate at the center of the universe of chaos. Jesus is the embodiment of God sticking by us forever, surprising us with God’s saving love. If you are expiring in the chaos and emptiness of hate, try turning to the fullness of God’s love. He made it available for you never to fade. So stand amazed in the presence of Jesus, trusting Him to plumb the depths to lead you into His eternal love. Choose Christ over chaos…you’ll never regret it.
