Believe It! // John 14:1

Today’s Scripture graphic for John 14:1 is pretty cool, isn’t it? It gives the idea that Jesus is sending a message to not let the insanity and inanity of our world deter us from living for God. And you know what? He is!

Let’s face it, this world is an absolute mess. Watch the headlines on your favorite news program for a new minutes and you’re sure to feel your blood pressure rise. Tune in again a few days later and it’s obvious that the concerns of the world change daily based on what the current thing is over which the powers-that-be want you to get angry or concerned. Does this mean that God isn’t real, or He doesn’t love us because of all the crooked corruption in culture? Absolutely not! In fact, let’s take a glance at some more of John 14 to see what we should do with our lives in this dog-eat-dog world.

Don’t let your heart be troubled. There is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9) which might sound fatalistic, but it’s so much more hopeful. We are dealing with the reality of human nature corrupted by evil just as people have done throughout history. The good news? We are not alone! Jesus promised that He is with us until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20) and no matter what the enemy throws at us, it can’t harm our eternal security when we trust it to Jesus (John 10:28). Hear again the Lord’s message for today: don’t let your heart be troubled…believe in God and also believe in me. Jesus is the way, truth, and life to God (John 14:6). His character and commandment is love (John 4:14). His desire is obedience (John 14:23). His promise is to return (John 14:28), and when He does, He will set everything like it was intended to be in the beginning.

So hear and heed Jesus’ message to us all and live boldly regardless what the devil tries to accuse you of and deceive you into today or any day for that matter. Believe it! Live it!
