Believe and Confess // 2 Corinthians 5:21

This week we are looking through some questions of faith. So far, we have considered how God made us for a purpose, but sin breaks that relationship. The good news is God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we confess our sins. Today, we are looking at the way God made all this possible…that way is the One who professed, “I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me” — Jesus in John 14:6. As we see in today’s verse, God heaped all the sin of humanity — past, present, and future — on Jesus so that we can be made right with God. Jesus could take on that role because He lived a sinless life and willingly offered Himself as a sacrifice so we could be raised up with Him (John 10:17-18). All you must do is confess your faith in Jesus and place your life in your hand. Consider what the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:9-10, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” You might think that’s too easy, but PLEASE do not denigrate God’s plan and Jesus’ sacrifice. There is no way you can save yourself, which is why I ask, “Do you believe that God sent Jesus to die for your sins and lead you back to the heart of God?” I ask you the same right now. Well, do you?
