Be Still // Psalm 46:10
I love today’s verse, but it frequently proves to be a problem for me. I don’t do still very well. I’m almost constantly on the move, listening to something on my phone, talking to someone, or almost anything else to occupy my mind. Ie desperately need the wisdom from today’s verse to settle me down, and I don’t think I’m alone. The inertia of temptation causes us to think the world revolves around us. Being still requires us to come face-to-face with the truth that God is God, and we are not. The world doesn’t quit spinning when I do. It’s in those very moments of stillness when I find just how much I need God and desperately need to get out of God’s way. So, can you be still today, if even just for a few minutes? It does us all a lot of good to recalibrate the hierarchy of holiness and let God do what only He can do.
