Be Still… // Psalm 46:10

Psalm 46:10 gives us a comforting and challenging thought for our Saturday: be still and know that I am God. If God is God, then that means you are not. This is hard for us to deal with at times and harkens back to Satan’s original temptation of Adam and Eve that you can be like God (Genesis 3:5). I don’t know about you, but I do NOT want the responsibility of being God, but for some reason I still think/act like it at times. This is one reason we need the gift of rest where we can be still, know that God is God, and then do our part to help make Him known throughout all the earth. If you’re like me and have a hard time resting, find comfort in the challenge to be still and let God do what only He can do. It will let you off the hook and give God the opportunity to help you recover your soul (Psalm 23:3, Matthew 11:29). I know I sure need it. How about you? So, let’s take some time today to do as God said and “Be still and know that I am God.”
